UK university Students targetted by crooks.
Virtual thieves have been operating at 11 universities across the country as part of the Home Office’s Lets Keep crime down campaign.
Students have fallen easy prey to thieves in the UK.With 1 in 3 students becoming the victim of a crime each year at university, and robbery and mobile+laptop theft the biggest crimes affecting students, teams of ‘thieves’ have been working to raise awareness of the issue.Students who left a mobile on a table, or a bag out of sight, found a Virtually Stolen sticker on their unwatched belongings – a sharp reminder of what could happen in a crowded bar. The ‘thief’ then provided the owner with advice to help prevent them becoming a victim of theft in the future.It is essential that students have student possessions, also known as student contents insurance - in order to be able to replace stolen goods, should that ever happen.
